Each Local Health Network is supported by a Governing Council which has a key role monitoring services and providing advice on improving clinical care outcomes, with a particular focus on service integration, performance and the safety and quality.

Starlight Express Room a centre of fun at WCH
A welcome addition to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital is the Starlight Express Room.
The Starlight Express Room provides a haven for medical-free respite for children and their families, with computer games, music, movies, crafts and other fun activities on offer to help distract children from the fact that they are in a hospital.
New MRI a breakthrough in patient care
The Women's and Children's Hospital now has a state-of-the-art magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) suite. The new digital MRI generates clearer images and improves the diagnostic confidence for clinicians.
Our new MRI suite is the first in the Southern Hemisphere to offer an ambient lighting package, which gives children the ability to control of their own environment with a range of fun sights and sounds to help distract them while they undergo a scan.
